Today's post is special because four good friends will wing their way to New Zealand this weekend. Dan, John, Ken and Gwen, what an adventure awaits you!
I'm not sure if I have said it here on the blog, but NZ is one of the few countries I would readily go back to. Our trip (wife and I) was not a photography trip yet I captured many memorable images. Their trip will be, I'm sure it will be nothing short of amazing.
I spent 2.5 days in Milford Sound and it rained nearly the entire time. Yet when I walked down to shoot NZ's most famous place, the sun broke out for just a few minutes so I could make this image. This country has soul.
Kia Ora is the traditional greeting of the native people. NZ, my friends will be your new friends. Treat them well and I hope we will all be back soon.
I have spoken many times of my reverence for these magnificent flying creatures. In the small fishing village of La Cruz, Mexico, you can get up close and personal with them. The word "elegance" seems to best describe them, on the wing, at least to me.
And being able to capture an image like this with a tiny little travel camera is pretty amazing as well.
