If you know me, and the blog, you know I love love love flying in small planes. This Piper Cub replica is quite small. It was really a thrill to be flying out over the ocean. And to get my shots I was always having my pilot buddy Ben "dip" the wing to one side or the other.
"Dipping" the wing took on a new context out there. Was kind of wishing I had another term to use?

A new anniversary? No, not our wedding anniversary. Not my blogoversary (btw, I missed it this year, 3 years back in January).
It's our anniversary of moving to Washington state. For me, living in one state my whole life, it was a very strange notion to move to another. But it has turned out phenomenally well. I miss my cohorts are the office, my friends, and the models/photographers I used to shoot with. But that's it.
I was f/b chatting with a friend last night that moved to Portland about the same time we moved. She is totally in love with her new home.
Change can be good! I'm celebrating with this image I took at the tulip festival two months ago. Beautiful, just like everything around here.

This is a favorite place of ours, Avila Beach in California. We thought we were going to move to that area. But it didn't work out so we picked Washington instead. So glad for that!

I just love having a macro lens. This subject is really tiny. maybe a half inch across at the widest. Macro lenses take you into the smallest worlds.
This was a pleasing image in color, but I thought going B&W would give it some extra pop.
I found a preset in Topaz B&W called "warm tone II smooth" that gave me just what I was looking for. As always, check out the original image on the Continue link below.

The blog and I support our armed forces. One of the benefits of living where I do is seeing these great Americans regularly. On board submarines, carriers, Coast Guard craft of all kinds, even the Air Force.
The biggest thrill are the carriers, in this case the USN Carl Vinson. You should see how many favorable replies I get when I post pictures like this on the ship's Facebook page. Parents and loved ones of our enlisted are very passionate. As they should be.

My dad has always loved gardening and working in the yard. Sometime back I found out Peonies are his favorite. His birthday was this week. Fortunately we happen to have some in our yard. So here's a happy birthday pic for Dad.

I had been online friends with John Barclay for a while when I decided to participate in a photo workshop in The Palouse, in Eastern WA. There I met his partner in crime, Dan Sniffin. I didn't know then that I would be moving to WA, and had no idea would make many good friends on that trip.
Have done several more trips with them since, including the trip to Cuba earlier this year (celebrating Dan's birthday). Knowing these two men has really improved my life. What great people.
And so it is that they are in the Palouse at this very moment. Seems a shame we are all in the same state, and not getting together. But they are busy and so am I. Details to be revealed later. In the meantime, enjoy today's image of the great Palouse, America's Tuscany.
