I ran into someone yesterday that was asking about my food photography, so I thought it was about time to put up one of my food shots:
For virtually all the food photography I have done, I use the location lighting - no flash. In this case I set up the table by a window facing north, for some even natural light. The overhead can lights also provided illumination, and I maneuvered the fork to where the reflection accented it.
I think I have a bit of natural talent when it comes to food photography, as opposed to say landscape, where I have worked hard to attain whatever skills I have. (of course, anyone that knows the Towery family would say we have "an eye for food," ahem!)
This was a pro shoot for Bravo Pastaria which is a locally owned restaurant in Roseville, CA. It's a great place, tell Mark and Carlos that I sent you! The shots were for an ad campaign at a local theater, so thousands of people got to see them.
