Taking my daughter to a basketball tournament early one morning, I saw these great foggy scenes, with the sun peeking through here and there. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera. But it was a two day tournament! So the next morning we left a bit early, and I discovered this amazing vista. It was foggy and dark, yet behind this nicely arranged set of oaks was a strip of sunlit grasses, in different colors.
There are days you are good, and days where you are just lucky. Generally with landscape shots you want to simplify - subtract all extraneous elements. While this shot is kind of "busy," I think the lighting is really the subject. You have the trees, blending together as the dark elements, and the seemingly backlit grasses, showing the colors in the morning sun, that just shouldn't be there.
