A friend of mine is having surgery today, right now in fact. I thought this would be a good time to bring out a sunrise shot, which is my own personal symbol for a fresh start, a new beginning. And what better location than Emerald Bay, on Lake Tahoe, CA.
This is certainly an iconic image, shot thousands of times. I shot this from a place known as Eagle Falls, well known to photographers everywhere. You never know what you'll get, in terms of cloud cover. Sometimes, it's just a bust. The very best would be lots of puffy clouds, with sunlight reflecting off the bottom of them. I have seen some great sunset shots like that from this location, but haven't been fortunate enough to shoot one myself.
But I think this particular image is perfect for my thoughts now. Clear and bright, nothing is going to stop this sun from fresh, new light.
