It's always nice to see a scene and figure out how to make an abstract image from it. This is something I work on. Sometimes, well, it's not worth looking at. Other times, wow. I'm particularly proud of this image, I think it is one of the best I have taken this year.
We were flying back from Santa Rosa at about 2,000 feet. I was catching glimpses out the window, but also working on the instruments as we were doing a simulated instrument flight. But I saw these rice fields and I knew it could make a good abstract. I got off two quick shots.
Now what I saw didn't look anything like the above. I have rotated, cropped, worked out the reflections, and saturated the colors. Click on the continue link below to see what I saw from the plane.
Here is what I saw, and quickly snapped a picture. Looks a bit different, eh? The most important thing I'm doing in photography these days is trying to SEE images that are just waiting out there for me. This time I think I was "in the zone." I aspire to see as well as people like Michael Reichmann (www.luminous-landscape.com) and Diane Varner (www.dianevarner.com).
Well, I have told you that this is one of my favorites for this year. What about you, what do you think of this one?
