Sneaking into the Ceramics Warehouse

Post processed in Topaz Adjust
A few of my blogging buddies have been putting up interesting posts where they modified a given image with software from www.topazlabs.com. There are a large variety of effects available, including various types of painting effects. I tried Topaz Simplify out on a couple of car pictures, and I liked how it came out.
But I was looking for an old building, hopefully with interesting contents, to try out Topaz Adjust. Last sunday, I found my subject, at a great local nursery and emporium called High Hand Nursery! Click on the continue link for more of the story, and the original picture.
I knew this scene was what I was looking for because it had lots of interesting textures and colors. The wood building was perfect. And I thought all of the ceramic pots turn into something pretty cool with the Topaz software.
So when I got home and loaded it up on the computer, the image above is what I got. This was just very easy. Other people are doing HDR images, then running them through Topaz, and using multiple Topaz passes. My own schtick is to try to minimize post processing so I can be out taking more pictures. Later I might get more sophisticated with Topaz, but for a first try, I'm quite happy with this image.
Above is the original image, unretouched. Not a remarkable photo... It's easy to get caught up in post processing techniques and "over do" it, but I think a little foray into something different and fun is just fine. You can try out this software for free, with a download from their site. If you want to buy it, visit John Barclay's blog discount page for a 10% discount coupon.
So help me out, what do you think of the Topaz enhanced image?
