Continuing with our winter theme.... When up in the Tahoe area in the wintertime I really enjoy riding in the "country." I wouldn't call it "back woods." These are real roads, some paved, some dirt/gravel. Even though covered with snow, they are marked and they are on the Nav system in my Land Cruiser.
I have had a lot of fun over the years, scouting photography locations. Well until Jan 1, 2009 when I pushed the envelope a bit too hard, got stuck, failed to dig out, and had to hike out. Then get an expensive tow. But that is another story.
This particular spot is just about 1/4 mile off Interstate 80. I had been back in the country, and was heading home, when I turned a corner and saw this view in my mirror. Hang on! Turned around, found this vantage point and worked out the shot. The sky reflection in the calm river really makes this shot for me.
See that "cut" in the hill about half way up? That's the train track. That's about the only way this could have been better, after I was all set up, Mr Amtrak comes chugging by. Maybe next time.
