With this being the last day of the Winter Olympics, I thought I should break out a Vancouver picture for you. This is Coal Harbour, which you have heard mentioned many times if you are watching the Olympics. BC Place Stadium where the opening/closing ceremonies are held is behind those buildings a few kilometers (I switch to metric outside the US ;>)).
We were on a boat there. This was an after dinner walk. I recall coming around this corner and really liking the blacked out pilings in the water. What I don't recall is how I got such a crystal clear shot. I would not have had a tripod, so most likely I found a bench or table or something to put my camera on, given the exposure. Back in the D60 days (Canon's second DSLR) you couldn't bump your iso much without massive amounts of noise.
In Lightroom, I hit this image with a preset called "Alice's Less Bright Dress." Nice name! Basically it does some curves and a strong dose of the vibrance slider.
I need to get back there. Hope you visit sometime yourself.
