Today I'm presenting what I believe is one of my very best images from our week in The Palouse. Mostly what I like here is the composition. It's all about texture, shapes, forms. I was first drawn to the beautiful curve of the roof.
I snapped off a few shots, but realized I wasn't really working what I had here. So I paused for a bit, and tried to take in the scene. Which was kind of difficult because in front of the barn was a great old truck, a nice red one. And a bunch of flowers. This is what most of the group was shooting.
Back to my telephoto scene. With a bit more playing around, I realized it was all about the "window opening" and the pipe going into it. So "zooming with my feet" (i.e. backing up) to get the framing I was looking for I nearly had what I wanted. Then it was a matter of moving the lens left and right, deciding how much of each element to include.
I believe this was my best composition. For post, just a bit of curves and clarity in LR. Easy.
This same scene will figure into tomorrow's post as well, but a completely different take. Let me know what you think of this one.
