Canon 5D Mark II, 135mm F/2.0, f/4.0, 1/80th, iso 125
Well after a few weeks of people shots, including edgy models, and a few days of decay images, I thought I should "bring back a sunny day" for you.
Recently I saw in the newspaper a story about a cancer survivor who has a small sunflower farm, which she opens up to the public one weekend as a fund raiser. The story even mentioned that she invites photographers. So you know the wife and I are going, right?
Sunflowers are plump targets and you would think a fairly easy photographic subject. But I find it quite challenging to come up with a blog or print worthy version. I have had some good ones, but like I say I think it is fairly challenging. My friend Stephan has a real talent for them, check out this image taken in his own yard!
For this image, my post was just a few Lightroom tweaks. I boosted the green channel saturation all the way. Added some clarity and vibrance. I thought about cloning out the white area above the flower, but decided not to as that opening in the leaves is what provides the luminosity of the flower.
I think the main contributor to making this a pleasing image is the 135mm lens. Gorgeous bokeh (out of focus area) with this baby. Hope you enjoy coming back to a sunny day here on the Dream Tomorrow blog.
