Panasonic GH2, 14-140mm, f/5.0, 1/250, iso 640
Carlos took me to a "resort." It's mostly visited by Mexicans, it's about 45 minutes from Zihautanejo. Why would gringos come here, when they can enjoy Ixtapa? Well, it is a beautiful spot. I should have taken a shot of the entire area, but I was off my game.
At this beach area, there are a few buildings, which are restaurants. Then they have tent like coverings for the tables and chairs. It's quite an operation. I would say 500 people could be dining at the same time. I was there on a Friday, and it was totally deserted. There were like 6 other people there. Tourism is down big time in this area. There were a few guys selling wares on the beach, I felt sorry for them and ended up buying a couple of items.
This hombre was oblivious to all however. His boss REALLY wanted me to purchase a fishing net. You don't think about these being made by hand, do you? He seemed very happy with this work. And he was happy to be in a picture for me.
Right when I walked under the covering, I bumped the iso to 640. Reviews have marveled at this camera's high iso capabilities, but I'm not seeing it. There is a lot of noise in the dark areas of this image (easier to see at 1:1, not so easy at this resolution). Perhaps people are comparing to other small cameras, and I'm used to the larger Canon equipment. But I don't think I'll be doing a lot of high iso work. What I should have done was slip on the 20mm f/1.7 that I have. Like I said, I was both off my game and new to this system.
I did focus on his hands, and I like the fact that the face is not in sharp focus.
