As mentioned yesterday, the ceiling of the Columbus room is beyond compare. Mercer and his artisans tell the story of Columbus journey, along with what happened when they arrived in the new world, all through the tiles in the ceiling. It's a wonder to behold. Maybe not the Sistine Chapel, but some darn fine work.

Here you can see the intricacy of the work. Imagine that every tile has to be designed, then created, before it can be embedded in the form that will eventually be the ceiling. They also use a lot of words as you can see. The whole thing is just amazing.
