"The Grapevine" is the name of a stretch of Interstate 5, connecting California's central valley to the LA basin. It's mostly the only decent part of the drive between Northern and Southern California. Rising to a little over 4,000 feet, it usually gets a little snow. Occasionally it will snow enough to be closed down.
However I don't think it often gets snow in April! Driving north a few weeks ago, this early morning treat was quite a thrill. I have never seen poppies and snow at the same time. It was about 10 am and 36 degrees when I took this shot. Another first!
