Moody Monday - Havana Times

This image for me is "classic Havana." I really enjoyed capturing the people in the streets (except when they then came up asking for money"). I just love this guy with his shoe store. Zappos de Havana!

The women walking by are not classic Havana though. There are a relatively few number of native Carribbean types you see as you walk around - most people being of Spanish and other European descent. I would say I caught a couple of the original Cubans in this frame. 

Boatin Sunday

Colorful Music

Many of my memories of Cuba are about the people. The people are very colorful, and I believe more than anything else they love their music. You should see them dance!

This senor was part of a 5 or 6 piece band we enjoyed listening to, one very special late morning in Trinidad. A very good time of friendship, music and even some photography!

Fisheye Friday

On Monday, my wife and I took in the famous Skagit Tulip Festival. A well known destination for photographers and admirers.

I had brought along my fisheye lens, imagining a shot like this. Most of my fisheye inspiration comes from blog buddy Rian, he of www.digitizedchaos.com. Rian is the blogging fisheye master if you ask me!

We went on a Monday to avoid the massive crowds that visit on the weekends. Getting there first thing I was able to get a shot like this without the tourists, just a couple of farm hands. Fisheyes are fun! Rian old buddy, what do you think of this one? (Others feel free to comment as well, on Friday's comments are completely no charge.)

Topaz Tuesday - Old School

Have mentioned here before that my uncle started a Honda shop the same year I was born. So I kind of grew up in the business. When I see an old Honda like this one it brings back a flood of memories.

Was eating at a waterfront restaurant in La Conner, WA, yesterday. This classy machine was just outside. I hoped the owner wouldn't come drive away before I could get out and shoot it. And so it was.

And as I viewed the scene I knew this would be a classy Topaz Tuesday image, and that I would most likely use my old standby, Spicify. Everything about this scene is "old school!"

This wasn't taken from an ulltralight plane, but it feels like it was, to me. I have a couple of books by photographer pilots that fly ultralights and do photography fairly close to the ground.

I can't imagine a better place than here for that kind of work. Don't worry, it's on my (long) list!
