Calla lilies are certainly a favorite photo subject. Not just for me, but for many photographers. Graceful, flowing, they really captivate us. I enjoy finding them in the wild, like I did last year over in Pt Reyes.
I recently came across this colored variety and was very taken with it. Incredible rich tones. In this image, the only real processing I did was to tone down the vivid green leaf as it was taking my eye away from the flower. Amazing eh?
I chose this shallow DOF so the entire plant would not be in focus, and instead we immediately experience the color and the form. She's a beauty.
