Maybe you are not a church goer, so I'll do my duty and you can visit this one with me today? This is the incredible church in the small Mexican town of Atotonilco. Often called "the Sistine Chapel of the Americas." It's been many years since I saw the Sistine Chapel, but at least to my memory, this one is every bit as spectacular (see the wikipedia page).
I employed an unusual technique to capture my images of this part of the church. I wanted to bring in as much as I could, and that means getting as far from the subject as possible right? So first, I tried laying down on the floor and shooting straight up. But I was not able to obtain a sufficient shutter speed for hand holding. I had a small tabletop tripod with me. So basically I placed the camera on the ground, and just pointed it, without being able to see what would be in the shot. Then with the shutter release cable took my shots. I moved the camera around on the floor, reviewing on the LCD and adjusting. This worked really well, in combination with the 25mm lens.
I have printed a couple of these at 24x36 inches and they are spectacular. Love this camera! My good friend Ellery was on this trip, and he has some pictures and more info about the church on his blog page.
