Continuing the "Spring thing..." I have always called these California Poppies. Cali's state flower. Then when I moved here to Washington and started seeing them I thought "that's weird, do they call them California Poppies here too?"
I thought that surely it is really the "Golden Poppy" and I just had it in my head, probably from learning in 3rd grade or something, that they are California Poppies.
Wrong again! Eschscholzia californica is the name of our little beauty. I shall have to ask what people call them here, next time I'm at the nursery. Do you have them in your locale (besides Cali, of course). What do you call them?
