My good friends John Barclay and Dan Sniffin are visiting for a few days. Yesterday we toured Seattle a bit, including a visit to Fisherman's Terminal with it's "work boats." There is a large amount of shooting opportunities there. I think my favorite is coming up with compositions in the boat hulls. There are combinates of paint, rust, scratches and vegetation that are pretty fun to work with.

Shot this one evening on my Mexico trip this past January. Does it get any better than being on the Pacific Ocean for sunset? Don't think so.

I went on a really fun shoot yesterda with one of the clubs I belong to. We went to a large auto wrecking yard. For someone like me that enjoy's decay shooting, it was pretty attractive. In a barn, I found these stacks of old car windows (remember when they had metal frames?). And attempted to create something artful with their textures and the patterns they made.

I know I have entered the dreamstate, floating among the thoughts from the day. Some of them I can touch, and those thoughts feels like electricity, sharp and powerful. Others I just admire, as they roll and twist by me.
Then it is time for the bigger dreams, to escape the day, escape reality. It's not hard. Just look outside, into the open sky. My body straightens and moves with purpose above and away. Will you join me?

Back at the Experience Music Project (Seattle) this week, and more abstracts made with camera movement and slow shutter. I have a variable ND filter for the Canon gear, so that makes it easier to work with slower speeds.
The only post processing in this shot is a curves adjustment to deepen the darker areas.

I might be going out on a limb with this image? Maybe a lot of people wouldn't think it is a keeper. I like it though, and since it is my blog, here we go.
In some ways it reminds me of this image, I suppose because it is also a beach seen and interpretive. There are a lot of interesting aspects to this image, but my most favorite is the composition itself, made up by the beach walkers.
The location is the improbably named "Inch Beach" on the Dingle peninsula. I had seen a few images of it, and when we got there, it looked like a fascinating place to shoot. Alas, we needed to get to our evening's destination. So this was a quick "grab shot" through the bus window. Pick up the camera and press the button.
Sometimes you get a mess. Sometimes you get art.

Well, my abstracts get about us much love here on the blog as my street photography! But I know some of you enjoy them, so here is another one. This would have made a good poster back in the 60's, eh?

I'm just going to keep publishing these abstracts, I love them so much. Although there aren't many comments, I get quite a few emails from people that like them, want to know how they are done, etc.
