When I knew Megan and I would go shooting at this bunker in Fort Ward here on the Island, this was the one pose I had preplanned. Happy with how it came out!

While strolling through the Brooklyn Bridge Park I came across many people shooting models, friends, wedding parties - you name it! It wouldn't really be polite to jump in and start shooting away at someone's model though.

But as I approached this one, there was no way I wasn't going to sneak a shot of these boots. Sadly, I don't have a memory of what the rest of her looked like. Someone that would wear these has to be interesting, wouldn't you say?

Last friday we visited some of Megan's work behind the camera. Today we can see she is equally talented in front of the camera as well. She visited this weekend and we had a really fun shooting session in a great location I know.

I believe this is the first time I have shot a model since moving here. I was a bit rusty but the old enthusiasm grew quickly. Sure love that kind of photographic work!

Friends on Friday - Megan

You have seen quite a few pictures of my niece, Megan, here on the blog (click on the "models" category if you haven't). But what you don't know is that she's also an awesome photographer.

Here she shot one of her best friends while they were on vacation. Would you be proud of working out that image? I sure would. I have always encouraged her because she's just got loads of natural talent. And of course because she's a sweetie.

Model Monday - Memories

The one kind of photography I miss the most, after moving to WA, is model photography. I belonged to a group of photogs and models, and we really had a lot of fun together.

For most of my photography, I have to work at it. I don't just start doing it and get nice images. Food photography was the first kind where I seemed to have some natural skills.

The first time I shot models I was pretty intimidated. Gorgeous, half-nekkid girls! ("Why is your camera shaking there, uh, Bob?") But by the second shoot I got with the program. I really enjoyed working with the models, and I think they enjoyed working with me too. I'm still Facebook friends with many of them, so it is nice to be able to keep up with them.

It's a very dynamic and fast moving kind of work. Sure miss it!
