I hope a lot of good times were had in this building, before the fall. Look at those nasty branches... Mother Nature is starting the reclamation process. Doesn't this look like one of my Cuba shots? Not this time - Palouse, WA. That's right, there is an actual town of Palouse, in "The Palouse."
Ashwin Rao - Leica M Monochrome
Ashwin Rao has become one of my favorite shooting buddies since I made the move to Seattle. We are in a club together, and have done a number of fun shoots. He's an all around great guy, talented photographer, and also very knowledgeable about vintage glass.
When I saw his glorious images at Steve Huff's website, I wanted to share them with my readers. I particularly find his comments about "thinking in black and white" very interesting. I would have to say that I would be challenged to accomplish that.

Many of the barns in the Palouse are on their way out (or down would probably be more descriptive...). I guess that is why they are so photogenic. You don't get inside too many of them, so this was kind of fun.

So I have mentioned that I just did another Palouse workshop, this time with friends Steve Huff and Ashwin Rao. I feel like a made another 12 friends for life. Such great guys, and such talented photogs.

While in the Palouse, our guide took us by a small farm. He mentioned "chickens," and I thought "am I really going to take some pictures of some dang chickens?"
Well, if you are a photographer, and life gives you chickens, you shoot them, right? It was raining lightly and I found some lovely patterns in said chickens.

So we are driving along a gravel road in The Palouse, going from one shooting location to another. I see this crop duster make a pass. So I pull our caravan over and tell everyone I want to get a quick shot. We all pile out.
The cropduster makes another pass releasing whatever he is spraying, but then banks hard and turns back toward us. Right as he gets along side he banks the wing and turns on the smoke! I just love Washington people! (State that is, of course.)
I'm kinda proud of this one.
