Tuscany residents really have a thing for door knockers! In fact, one of my friends says he is publishing a photo book called "The Knockers of Siena." But that's another story.

Always the cypress trees in Tuscany. So pretty. White puffy clouds are classic too, but we didn't have many days like this.

This must be such a thrill for a landscape painter. To come to Tuscany and paint "en plein air."

Tuscany is littered with these ancient villas. Most are not quite this "rustic." Many of them are being turned into vacation rentals, the only way the owners can afford to keep them up.

Another view of the same building as yesterday. There's little pollution in this area so the building has really stood the test of time.

Starting a new series today, images from Tuscany. This is San Biagio, a duomo just outside of Montepulciano. Built in the 1500's! Very beautiful, but unfortunately it was closed for renovations.

EMP Series - Day Six

Okay, going to close out this series with a shot I'm pretty sure you couldn't have ever seen before. While it looks basically like the building, the form on the right is actually the front of the monorail that travels through the building.

I would say that this shot wouldn't be possible with any of my Canon bodies (except perhaps the good old 1D Mark III) because it wouldn't have autofocused in time to capture the monorail "right there."

I like this one a lot because it blends my appreciation for the building with my street shooter skills! Hope you enjoyed, please comment if so.

EMP Series - Day Five

Polarizer magic! I was amazed as I looked through the viewfinder and twisted the polarizer. This effect is more pronounced with the building, than I have ever seen shooting landscapes.
